About Wasil
Who makes this, where it runs from, and what it deliberately does not do.
Who we are
We kept watching the same thing happen. Somebody flies home from Umrah with a half-empty bag, and somebody else in the same city has spent two years asking every relative who travels whether they could bring one bottle of oud back.
Nothing about that is a technology problem. The two people already exist, the flight already exists, the space in the bag already exists. What is missing is a way for a stranger to hand over money without either side having to trust the other first.
So we built the smallest thing that fixes it: the money sits with Stripe until you say, in person, that the item is in your hands. We are the founders of ShopX, and Wasil is the second thing we have built.

What we do not do
- We do not verify identity documents. Accounts are confirmed by email only.
- We do not supervise handovers. Meeting safely is on both of you.
- We do not insure items. If something is damaged in a bag, Wasil cannot replace it.
What we got wrong
The first version let people message each other before any money moved. Every conversation that started there ended somewhere Wasil could not protect either side, so chat now opens when the payment is held and not before. It is a worse first impression and a better product.
